Microneedling Q & A

Why do I need microneedling?

Microneedling, medically known as “collagen induction therapy,” is an aesthetic treatment that stimulates new tissue and collagen production. This regenerative treatment can:

  • Minimize lines and wrinkles
  • Decrease the appearance of age spots
  • Reduce large pores or rough patches
  • Lessen the appearance of scars, including acne scars

Plus, a single microneedling treatment can leave you with brighter, firmer, younger-looking skin, with continuing improvements after every session you have.

What happens during microneedling?

The skincare experts at Professional Aesthetics & Wellness Center sit down with you and get to know about your skin care goals and concerns. They select serums and topical solutions, based on your skin care needs. After cleansing your skin and applying any essential products, Dr. Dittrich glides the microneedling dermaroller over your skin.

The dermaroller contains dozens of microfine needles. With each pass, it gently punctures your skin. Because your cells quickly realize that an injury is occurring, they jump into action and start an entire cascade of healing events.

Cells start regenerating, new tissues start forming, and older cells start getting pushed away. Over time, all the fresh skin that’s forming underneath starts making its way to the surface. You’re left with visibly firmer, tighter skin that looks (and feels) years younger.*

How long does it take to heal after microneedling?

As beneficial as microneedling is for both men and women, it does require some downtime. You’re probably going to experience some redness, soreness, and slight irritation that could be visible for a few days. But as your skin continues to heal, you’re going to start experiencing all of the benefits microneedling has to offer, with each passing day.

The team of skin care experts at Professional Aesthetics & Wellness Center find that most men and women experience optimal results after a microneedling session within about 2-4 weeks — you can continue to improve after that point, too. To keep your skin looking its best, Dr. Dittrich typically recommends adding microneedling into your skin care regimen as often as every 4-6 weeks, or at least several times per year.
